Eye of London

View from the London Eye

My partner had relatives visiting from the States so we treated them to a ride on the London Eye.

It reminds me of the Ferris Wheel at the Royal Adelaide Show. South Australia's longest running and best loved event. A time when I was still young and carefree. Dazzled by the rides and pavillions. Able to eat a greasy lunch, followed by sickly sweet, sticky fairyfloss and then thrill to some giddying ride and still keep my lunch down. Those were the days.

So the London Eye is like a giant version of a Ferris Wheel on the South Bank of the River Thames in London. Apparently it's an impressive 443 feet tall with a wheel diameter of 394 feet.

They were enthralled as was I. As this experience was also my first time, all I can say is...WOW. It was a privileged bird's-eye view of the city's landmarks and incredible vantage points for photography.

It takes 30 minutes for a full revolution and it doesn't have to stop to let passengers on or off.
